Meet Barb
Honest Reflections. Divine Connections
Barbarian. Yep, that’s the origin of my name.
It fits me. Really it does. It means “foreigner” and “stranger.”
I always felt a little out of place.
Then I figured out why. This isn’t my home.
I serve as an ambassador, representing God’s kingdom.
I invite you to join me as we catch glimpses of our real home. Hope calls to us from a place of joy, acceptance, and perfect love. But how awesome that we get to enjoy God’s presence in the here and now. One of Jesus’ names is Emmanuel, “God with us.” He’s ever-present, comforting us, strengthening us, and preparing us for tomorrow.
Let’s savor the sweetness of today.
More About Me
Today I serve as a research scientist for a world-renowned public university, but I’ve always been a teacher at heart. I love to help other people master topics that will benefit their lives and careers. I’ve taught thousands of adults and teens over the years in technical subjects, and now I get to share even more life-changing topics with you. What a privilege!
In 1987 I married Mike Fox, one of the world’s leading extroverts. Our empty nest regularly welcomes home our two incredible children and their awesome spouses.
When not writing or working, I’ll be hiking, swimming, playing cards, or learning a new board game.
I don’t have all the answers, but I have a little life experience. I’ve been a small town girl moving alone to the big city. I’ve also been a corporate engineer, a stay-at-home Mom, a small business owner, a high school teacher, and even an unemployment recipient.
But no matter what the stage of life, God meets me where I am and sweetens the journey.
I am never alone. And neither are you.

What People Are Saying
With authenticity, transparency, and a desire to encourage others, Barb pulls back the curtains on a painful reality that is rarely discussed. From a biblical perspective, Barb provides insight and support to those experiencing distress caused by financial role changes, while recognizing God’s movement behind the scenes. Communication techniques, problem-solving, and relationship strategies provide hope as she reminds her readers of God’s great faithfulness, compelling the reader to trust in God. This book is excellent for all marriages!
